Founded in the true spirit of hacking, uCon is a totally informal conference on hacking, technology and information and telecommunication security.

The first uCon will be held in 9th of February 2008 -- three days after the best street carnival in the world, in Recife, Pernambuco, and aims to bring together academics, hackers and information security enthusiasts from all over the country to share cutting-edge ideas and thoughts about their latest developments and techniques in the field.

The conference is non-vendor-biased, single track and has variable time-length presentations. No registration fee is required, meaning attendance to uCon is free to everyone.

This event adds to the efforts of creating at CIn-UFPE a "Permanent Forum on Cybersecurity and The Public Domain", with the aim of discussing contemporary themes related to internet security, privacy, intellectual property in the digital age, and cyberlaw. The Forum will be run by the Cybersecurity Laboratory of CIn-UFPE, and shall involve academia, government, legislators, privacy rights organizations, and industry.

The computer security landscape in Brazil will be forever changed. Prepare yourself.
